Master Planning

To encourage Edgewood residents to invest themselves in the future of their community, Mayson Avenue Cooperative initiated a “Master Planning Process.” Beginning in the summer of 2007, the firm Market + Main was hired to explore the possibilities for master planning in Edgewood. After consulting various stakeholders and hosting several preliminary meetings, a formal master planning process was launched in January 2008 by Market + Main.

Through a series of interviews, focus groups, and community design sessions, Market + Main was able to gather input from residents, workers, businesses, and community-based organizations that had a stake in Edgewood’s development. The master plan documents were approved by members of Organized Neighbors of Edgewood and the Neighborhood Planning Unit in the summer of 2008, and the City of Atlanta has since adopted the plan as well.
